SSS – Computation

Average Monthly Salary Credit (AMSC)

The Average Monthly Salary Credit (AMSC) represents the average of a member’s Monthly Salary Credits over a specific period used in SSS benefit computations. It is most commonly applied when calculating pensions for retirement, disability, and death benefits. Higher AMSC values generally translate to larger pension amounts.

The AMSC serves as one of the primary components for determining the member’s final pension formula. Depending on the benefit type and years of service, SSS uses a combination of AMSC, Credited Years of Service (CYS), and fixed pension components to compute the final result.

Ensuring accurate salary reporting and consistent contribution payments helps maintain a correct AMSC. Members who plan to improve their future pensions often increase their MSC earlier so that these changes reflect positively in their long-term averages.
