SSS – Maternity

Delivery Type

Delivery Type refers to whether childbirth was performed through normal spontaneous delivery (NSD) or cesarean section (CS). SSS treats both delivery types equally when computing maternity benefits, meaning the number of compensable days and the computation formula do not change.

However, delivery type may influence documentation requirements. For instance, cesarean section deliveries typically require additional medical and surgical records such as operative notes, laboratory reports, or hospital certifications.

Understanding delivery type is essential when preparing maternity claim documents because SSS must validate the accuracy and authenticity of the medical records submitted with the claim.
