If you’re a voluntary member of the Social Security System (SSS) in the Philippines and expecting a child, you may be eligible to receive maternity benefits. These benefits are designed to provide financial support during your pregnancy and recovery period.
To make things easier, we’ve created a maternity benefit calculator. Simply input your SSS contributions and details, and it will estimate the amount you’re eligible to receive. Below, we’ll explain how the calculator works and how you can maximize your benefits.

What is the SSS Maternity Benefit for Voluntary Members?
The SSS Maternity Benefit is a cash allowance given to female SSS members who are unable to work due to childbirth, miscarriage, or emergency termination of pregnancy. It applies to both employed and voluntary members, as long as certain conditions are met.
Eligibility Requirements for Voluntary Members
To qualify for the SSS maternity benefit as a voluntary member, you need to meet these requirements:
- At least 3 monthly contributions within the 12-month period before your semester of delivery or miscarriage.
- You must have notified the SSS about your pregnancy.
How the Maternity Benefit is Calculated
The amount you’ll receive depends on your Average Daily Salary Credit (ADSC) and the number of days you’re entitled to receive the benefit.
Here’s a step-by-step breakdown:
- Determine your semester of contingency – This is the 6-month period before the quarter of your expected delivery date or miscarriage.
- Identify the 12-month contribution period before the semester of contingency – Check your contributions in the 12 months leading up to this period.
- Calculate the Average Monthly Salary Credit (AMSC) – Add the monthly salary credits (based on your contributions) for the top 6 months and divide by 6.
- Multiply your ADSC by the number of days you’re eligible for:
- 105 days for normal delivery or cesarean section.
- 120 days for solo parents under the Solo Parent Act.
- 60 days for miscarriage or emergency termination.
Example Calculation
Let’s say your monthly contribution is ₱1,200, which corresponds to a salary credit of ₱20,000:
- If you paid at least 6 months of contributions in the qualifying period, your AMSC would be ₱20,000.
- Your ADSC is ₱666.67 (₱20,000 ÷ 30 days).
- For a normal delivery (105 days), your benefit would be:
₱666.67 x 105 = ₱70,000.35
How to Use the Calculator
- Enter your total contributions and the months you’ve paid.
- Select your expected delivery date or the date of miscarriage.
- The calculator will automatically compute your estimated benefit based on your input.
How to Apply for the SSS Maternity Benefit
- Notify SSS of your pregnancy through their My.SSS portal or by visiting the nearest branch.
- Submit the required documents, including your pregnancy proof (ultrasound or medical certificate).
- Once your claim is approved, the benefit will be credited to your bank account or through your chosen payment method.
Tips for Maximizing Your Maternity Benefit
- Contribute regularly – Ensure you consistently pay your contributions to meet the eligibility criteria.
