Who Can Apply for SSS Maternity Benefits?

If you’re pregnant, had a miscarriage, or experienced an emergency termination of pregnancy, you might be wondering: “Am I eligible for the SSS Maternity Benefit?” Here’s everything you need to know about who can apply, what the requirements are, and how to check your benefit amount.

Who Is Eligible for SSS Maternity Benefits?

The SSS Maternity Benefit is available to female SSS members who meet the following requirements:

  1. Active SSS Membership
You must be an active member of the Social Security System, whether as:
    • An employed member
    • A self-employed member
    • A voluntary member
    • An Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW)
  2. Paid Contributions
You must have paid at least three monthly contributions within the 12 months immediately before the semester of your childbirth, miscarriage, or emergency termination of pregnancy.
  3. Proper Notification to SSS
You need to notify SSS of your pregnancy:
    • For employed members: Your employer must file the maternity notification on your behalf.
    • For self-employed, voluntary members, or OFWs: You must personally submit the maternity notification online through the SSS Member Portal.

Are You Covered Even If You’re Not Currently Employed?

Yes! Even if you’re no longer employed but have voluntarily continued paying your SSS contributions, you’re still eligible for the benefit as long as the contribution requirement is met.

What Conditions Are Covered?

The SSS Maternity Benefit applies to the following situations:

  • Live childbirth (whether normal delivery or cesarean section).
  • Miscarriage or spontaneous abortion.
  • Emergency termination of pregnancy (such as ectopic pregnancy or other medical emergencies).

How Much Can You Receive?

The amount of your maternity benefit depends on your Average Daily Salary Credit (ADSC) and the length of your maternity leave:

  • 105 days for live childbirth.
  • 60 days for miscarriage or emergency termination of pregnancy.
